My Why

"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end."

Ecclesiastes 3:11

I'm Jaime Mitchell, a story creator. With my background as a Secondary English Teacher, I like to take elements such as character, plot, theme, setting, and symbolism, shake them together, and experience an explosion of words that leaves me breathless. When I'm not teaching, reading, or writing, I'm hanging out with my favorite people (my family) and a really weird cat named Gato.

Here's how it happened:

When I was in high school, I decided to join the yearbook staff. I loved creating the pages and writing the articles that showcased my friends and the events that took place throughout the year. Afterwards, I went to college and majored in English. A few of my professors always gave a creative assignment that we could submit instead of an essay. One of my short stories was nominated for the Presidential Writing Award cementing my desire to one day write words others will read.

After finishing my degree and obtaining another degree in Secondary Education, I concentrated on my family, career, and community for a while. I still wrote bits for our local paper but nothing serious. And then, COVID-19 happened. All educators and their students were sent home. School came to a close and remained closed for an extended period of time. Bored out of my mind, I picked up the pen again and rediscovered a lost treasure.

Now, with the full support of my two sons (who will be attending college soon themselves) and my patient husband, I have finished my first complete manuscript and am embarking on the publication ship. My hope is to fill pages with words to ignite readers' imaginations and give them a thrilling experience wrapped in romance, adventure, and epic high stakes. And in the end, it is my prayer that readers come to understand along with my characters the depth of God's love for each one of us.
